What a Success!

Building Blocks Parents, you have outdone yourselves!  What a wonderful show of love and thanksgiving you provided for our volunteer teachers.  The brunch was a BIG success and all of the teachers were so appreciative.  I actually had numerous teachers tell me that in the nine years they have volunteered, this is the first organized show of appreciation they had received.  I truly hope this will not be the last.  Julie and I were there for the entire school day and I can tell you that these teachers work very hard and go home exhausted each week.

I just wanted to share their thanks to each of you and let those of you who couldn't be there see how it all turned out.

The fruit and beverage table.  Thanks should go out to Denise and Julie for much of the decor.

The hot food and pastry table.

The dining table in the library.  The church library turned out to be the perfect place for the event.  It was close to the classrooms and had a large table for eating.  At one point the room was packed!  Great fellowship was had and we sent each of them home with  a mug full of candy as a token of our appreciation.

I also had a chance to go into some of the classrooms and see first hand some of the great work the teachers are doing.  This was Bible time.

This is my little girl's third year at Building Blocks Preschool and sadly will be her last as she graduates in May.  I hope that the teacher appreciation meal can become an annual event.  Any of you parents who are able to organize for the next year, feel free to step up.  I hope to be back in a couple of years when my little one is old enough to receive the same blessings and training for school and life that my oldest has received.  How blessed we all are to have found such a dedicated group of teachers who volunteer and make early education possible for many who could not have afforded it otherwise!
Again, thank you for all of your help.

In Christ,
Angie Coleman

Love is in the Air!  What better way to show our teachers how much our kids love them than a Valentine Brunch?  Due to the inclement weather in December, we were unable to show our appreciation for their efforts with our children.  Let's plan to make up for this with a really great February feast!  Denise has already purchased red plates and cups, so it will be a perfect time to use them.  We will change the menu, so please feel free to sign up for the brunch item you would like to bring.  Ideas include but are not limited to juices, fruits, casseroles, doughnuts, coffees, etc.

New Plan

Hi Everyone,

Angie and I have been talking and we've decided to retry our Teacher Appreciation Luncheon, which basically guarantees that we'll have snow this day. Our plans are to have a brunch for the teachers on Feb. 15th, starting at 11am. I'm planning on making a breakfast casserole and Angie will make Hashbrown Casserole. We would need volunteers to bring juices, fruit, pastries, etc. We'll also need volunteers to help with set up, clean up, and to give the classroom teachers a break so that they can enjoy the event. Let us know how you'd like to help!

No Luncheon This Semester :(

Hello everyone,
I have just learned that there will be no school tomorrow.  This means we will have to postpone our luncheon.  I have discussed possible dates with some parents and so far the consensus would be in mid February, to coincide with Valentines Day.  If you have any other ideas please share.  Thank you all for your willingness to help with this event.  I am so sad that we will not be able to show our appreciation for our teachers this year.  Stay warm and we will be in touch with you after the New Year.
Wishing you and yours a joyous and very merry Christmas,
Angie Coleman

It's Almost Here!

Our Building Blocks Teacher Appreciation Luncheon is coming up tomorrow. Barring bad weather, we'll be starting the luncheon at 11:30. Please bring your dishes to the library by 11 am so we can set it up. The Library is the in the next hallway over from the classrooms. It is the fourth room on the right. We will also have thank you cards available, so don't forget to sign them to thank our teachers. If Fayette County Schools are cancelled, school and the luncheon are cancelled and will be rescheduled for a later date. Can't wait to see you!

Welcome to our new blog!

Hello Building Blocks Preschool Parents,
My daughter Sarah has been attending Building Blocks for three years now and I have the utmost respect for the dedicated volunteers who have spent untold hours preparing lessons and teaching our little ones without asking anything in return.  After talking with another preschool parent, Julie Allen, we thought that it would be great if we parents gave back to these men and women.  Because there are 20 plus volunteers, it is difficult to purchase gifts for every staff member.  Our discussion then led to the idea of a teacher appreciation luncheon.

We are so grateful that each of you have volunteered to help in this effort!   The luncheon is set for the last Tuesday of school this semester, December 14.  We discussed the idea with Sabrina and she is definitely on board.  She said that around 11:30 am would be the best time to serve the staff.  We will need many dishes as well as lots of hands that day, setting up, relieving the teachers as they eat, and cleaning up after the luncheon.  I have made each of you administrators of this blog, so that each of you are welcome to add posts, update lists, etc.  With all of your help, we hope to have a successful event for our deserving teachers!
In Him,
Angie Coleman
